Goodbye holidays!

Damn it, good times really pass too fast. 2 weeks of idleness is coming to an end just like that?

Been catching up on my exercise regime, brushing up on my driving skills and spending more time at home with mom and sis.

Made a long journey to the west back home on Tuesday because it was raining so heavily in the morning I decided to stay in in bed. Stopped over at Orchard just for a walk and some shopping, and bought NOTHING! Even the mooncakes in taka didn't really interest me. I remember how I looked forward to that every mid-autumn and I would just go one round to eat mooncakes! Only the Prada bag seemed to catch my eyes haha. Is that a result of age catching up??

Went to check out Yonex warehouse sale on Fri for cheeky and look at what I've gotten him:

And knowing badminton is not my sports, I had completely no idea which rackets are good so I took photos for cheeky to see and research and I ended up with 2 rackets, 1 badminton bag, 2 polo shirts and 2 pairs of shorts, all for my cheeky boy! And luckily I was kiasu enough to head down to the sale early in the morning and managed to grab the yellow LCW's racket (which was already out of stock 2 hours into the sale!)

And haiz, what a heavy price to pay to grab those loots...
The warehouse carpark was so freaking narrow and there's only 1 pathetic tiny path with barely 5cm of allowance on both sides for both in and out traffic. As I was heading out, a van was coming in and so I squeezed and stopped the car along the side of the road to let him pass, but he still brushed against my little car and scrapped off some of her skin.

Haiz... I feel so bad, cos that's cheeky's little darling and he's been taking so good care of her all these years.

And my last bday present (sponsored by mommy): iPhone 5!!
The white one's mine and the black one's for my fil. We were just trying our luck after lunch and everything was in-stock and the queue wasn't that long and we managed to get everything settled in about 2 hours!

New phone, new month, new job, here I come!

Forever 21!

For the 6th time round this year. Oh well, age is just a number isn't it?

How else to celebrate birthday other than food and more food? And I've been running/swimming everyday to eat my cakes without too much guilt.

My first cake from awfully chocolate! (And looking super auntie here)

My 2nd and 3rd long awaited cakes from k.ki. LRRH is still my fav :)

Bday dinner at zero.zero. Chanced upon the place while foodblog surfing and decided to give it a try since it's quite atas and highly recommended on HGW and most importantly, it's having a 1-for-1 on their 6 course set meal (usually $89.90++ ).
Situated in one corner of Central overlooking the river, it's one of the posh-looking restaurants I'll never walk into if I'm looking for food in Central. The ambience was good, with live performance of a mixture of familiar English and Mandarin songs.

Now this is the dish that caught my attention. Beef loin on Houba leaf. See the beef looks so rare because you can slowly 'barbeque' it on the leaf over the very-hot-stone. Don't ask me what's a Houba leaf cos it just looks like a normal dead leaf, but it does give a special aroma to the beef. It came with a special sauce on the side (not shown) as well and this is definitely one of the meats I'll eat.
The other food were good, but they came so slow! We sat for 3 hours to finish the dinner and they even prepared the wrong food! Will I re-visit? Maybe, if the promotion is still on.

Checking out the mid-autumn lights at Clarke Quay after dinner.

And my last bday cake with the 2 bullies in my house!!

For you are made for greater things than this

And so I threw the letter a month ago and finished my last day of work last Friday and began 2 weeks of new-found freedom.
Honestly, I'm feeling a bit jittery moving into a totally new company and jobscope. I've no idea how my new colleagues will be like, and I've been warned by everybody that it's going to be a stressful job. So just let me relax for 2 weeks before stepping into the workforce again.

Time flies like a banana when you're enjoying it. Slacked at home on Monday after koping cheeky's car and driving him to work, followed by a morning run. Tuesday kidnapped cheeky out for lunch to collect our free luggage (cos it ran out of stock during natas) and then going to pay $$ to renew my tcm license (money suckers!). Today I slacked at cheeky's house, cleaned up his room a bit, adjusting the new fish tank water (more to come!), clearing the stupid dog's poo!! then went for a dip in the pool before going for my pre-employment checkup in the afternoon. Why doesn't a day at work pass this fast?

Enjoying last few days of being 25, Age is just a number, I'm still young!

Happy 4 months!

It amazes me how we can read each other's mind, how we can type the same words at the same time, and how we can never play a game of scissors paper stone.

Love is not buying the biggest diamond ring or the most romantic candle-light dinner. Love can be as simple as a kaya toast, plain it may look on the outside, but filled with sweetness in every bite.

Don't worry, Bee happy

What rotten luck I have, to be stung by this big fat hornet!

What a way to end an almost perfect Saturday. I was having dinner as normal at home when the freaking insect dropped on me from the ceiling, and human first reaction is to brush it away, but I guess hornet's first reaction is none other than to attack! Instantly, I felt a sharp pain above my armpit and my whole shoulder and chest area turned red and hot! Then I saw the sting - a small red circle surrounding a needle-like hole and a mozzie-bite-like bump that started to form gradually.
Cheeky insisted on bringing me to see the doctor in case it was poisonous, even though I was quite sure it wasn't fatal. So we grab that freaky insect (which was smashed dead by then) and put it in a plastic bag and brought it along. But alas, all the clinics in the area were closed on a Saturday night. So we decided to ask the chinese drug stall uncle if he knows anything before driving off to find a 24 hour clinic. The uncle gave me some vinegar to put on the sting and said it's a common 虎头蜂. Poisonous but a single sting is not deadly if I'm not allergic. And guess what he did to the hornet? He plucked out the stinger and threw it to his bird to eat!

Sunday was AHM and I still woke up to be cheeky's trusty pacer for his (and mine too) 5km run, despite a slightly swollen and painful to touch shoulder area.

Well, so what's the difference between a bee and a wasp/hornet?
Besides a difference in size, a bee dies after it stings and a hornet can sting many times!! WTH, one is enough to leave me agonizing for days. Seriously, I have NEVER had any luck with toto or 4d, only this kind of suay luck!

Jaws

I'm not talking about the movie, I'm talking about my own. Glad my jaws are in place now.

It actually happened a few months ago, the very morning after our ROM while having breakfast. I have no idea what I was munching, but I guess it must have been something real hard to cause a sudden pain in my left jaw that felt like a sprain or crack. The pain lingered for a week or two before it gradually went off. But recently, I don't know why, but it came back. And these 2 weeks I've been suffering in pain engaging in my favourite activity - eating! (what were you thinking?) Munching my daily apple was the ultimate challenge, every bite feels as if my jaw was going to come off. I could hear cracking sounds when I yawn, and believe me, it even hurts when I sneeze (and it didn't help to catch a flu at the same time). I was so afraid it has already dislocated and even tried doing acupuncture on face to see if it helped.
So last week, after I finished my internship, I asked laoshi to help me check. And after examining it, she says it's indeed out of place and so she used her hands (with gloves of course) and put it back in place. Scary it may sound and I was actually expecting it to be done with a sudden and painful jerk, but she took only about a minute or two and it didn't hurt at all! No wonder patients queue hours and celebrities come in from the backdoor just to see her.
And guess what, all these while I thought it was a problem with my swollen wisdom tooth/gums because everytime I close my mouth, my top left molar land on my bottom gums, but now I can close my mouth properly without biting any gum! OMG, I can't believe I was living with a misaligned jaw for months!

And guess what was my first meal after getting my jaws straight?
Tada! Our long-time-no-eat frog porridge!!

See the skeleton of the 5 poor little froggies? haha

I guess I'm still generally in good health, but weird things happen to me, like I've a protruding tailbone which makes it impossible to do situps on hard ground, or had a backache from bungie jumping, or very occasionally suffer from a bout of restless leg syndrome in the middle of the night (go google that), or went hospital to take out a stuck fishbone or to dig out my ingrown toenail.

Now I have every right to tell my kids next time "if you cry too much, the police will come" and "if you eat too much, your mouth will break!"

Ok, some happenings of the past weekends: booked our honeymoon trip during natas! Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Netherlands! (standard and not-adventurous I know) and super kiasu, I know too, but super looking forward to it! Decided to sign up for a package tour, since it's our first time to these countries and we didn't want to worry about finding accommodation or looking for directions or stay in lousy rooms because it's our honeymoon!!

And look what cheeky got from Comex!
Believe it or not, he only paid for the camera, the rest are ALL freebies!

Counting down

To my last day here and wasted saturday mornings. 2 more weeks before my 2 weeks of freedom! I'm so glad I no longer have to face a manager who's worse than a dog, nodding to whatever the boss says and not fighting for our rights or helping out when it's obviously not a lady's job.

And so earlier this week he called me in and told me I have 7 days of leave left, so I have 2 choices, either I take it all at one shot, or break it up. Even when I told him I've already asked the HR and she says she'll calculate accordingly and encash any remaining leave, he says "oh, but the boss says we don't practice this because he has bad experience of people finding all kinds of leave to encash and end up getting about 1 month of pay." And when I told him I've already checked with HR and she says it's ok, he just shrugged his shoulders and said 'well, the boss says so.' And then I asked him "so what about marriage leave?" And guess what? that idiot act blur and said "when did you get married? I don't know about these HR things, I have to check." Bloody hell! If you don't know about all these HR things why did you just nod to whatever the boss says? Nevermind, I immediately went into the MOM website to check it out, and guess what it says?

I printed it out and highlighted that crucial part and threw it on his table. WTF! How different is he from a dog trying to please the master by helping him save money? Nevermind, at least now I get my 10 days' worth of $$. Serve the old man right, the more niao he is, the more his employees will squeeze him!
