Back from honeymoon!!

Reluctantly of course. It has been the most beautiful 2 weeks of 2013 so far, to spend 2 completely carefree weeks away from this hot little island to the other side of the world!

Although we had abt 1 and a half weeks after our wedding to pack our luggage and prepare for the trip, time was still very tight as I had to work till the very day we were leaving. 

We took the midnight flight on Emirates, stopping 1 hour in Colombo and transitting in Dubai before finally reaching Rome! First day in Rome was free and easy, so after settling down in the hotel and going to the supermarket to get some water, we collapsed on the bed till the next morning.

We started our Italy tour from Rome with the mandatory tourist places, I don't know if its because of the Easter weekend, but Italy was very crowded everywhere, and we had to grab on to our bags tight and keep a lookout for the gypsies. My favourite part of Italy was shopping! The tour took us to The Mall where it is the outlet for most of the branded boutique, and boy, it was so much cheaper there!!! Just look at me and you can guess the damage.

After Rome, we also visited Florence, Pisa, Venice and Milan. So let the photos speak...

After a few nights in Italy, we set off to our next destination: Switzerland. Although it was a long drive, the journey was scenic, especially upon entering the Swiss mountains where we were all so excited at the first sight of snow!

We spent 2 nights in Interlaken and went up 2 mountains. First was Jungfraujoch, which is the top of Europe. The journey up by train is about 2 hours but certainly worth it.

The next day we went up Mt Titlis by cable car, similarly snowy, but it was a pity the sky bridge was closed so we spent the time playing in snow! Cheeky was so scared I will slip and fall and was holding on to me so tight!

Presenting to you the beautiful city of Interlaken! All was good except for the big groups of tiong tourists who buy rolex like toy watches!

After Interlaken, we proceeded to Lucerne for a few photo stops and to spend the night there before the long journey the next day. Beautiful city by day and night!

The next day was the longest bus ride to Paris, we set off at 8 plus and only arrived in Paris at 6ish in the evening. Being adventurous, we decided to take a cab down to Eiffel Tower with the initial plan of going up the tower and search for dinner in the area. Never did we expect it to be so cold and the wind so strong that we almost froze our ears off up in the tower while waiting for the lifts! We took so long just to get up and down the tower and were too cold to walk anywhere for dinner that we decided to just go back to hotel and settle dinner with room service and cup noodles.

Our guided tour in Paris began the next day with sightseeing drive in the city and visit to Louvre Museum and of course shopping!!! Since we didn't get to have a proper dinner the day before, we decided to treat ourselves to something French to end our tour in Paris. Walking down the street where our hotel was located, we settled for this french restaurant which looked authentic as it was full of the local people. Our verdict: real French food can only be found in France. The onion soup was nothing like the ones I've tasted in S'pore, it came in a huge bowl and had a thick layer of cheese of at last 3cm!!  I surrendered after half a bowl. For mains, I had salmon and Cheeky finally had his duck confit which he had been craving for for days. My salmon was normal and the duck was good! And finally came dessert, we shared a creme brûlée as I'm not a big fan of desserts now. It was huge and the best creme brûlée I've had so far!!

Then we headed further north to our last 2 destinations: Brussels and Amsterdam.

Brussels was just a stopover for lunch and photos and not forgetting chocolates.

Headed over to Amsterdam where we spent the last 2 nights.

We visited Keukenhof to see the tulips which were not in full bloom yet, and of course not forgetting the wooden clogs and windmills, before ending the day with a walk down the red light district.

Now that we're back, I wonder when our next holiday will be...

Our Wedding

A huge thank you to everybody who helped us on our wedding day and planning for it. I must say I know nuts about all the customary and all the procedures bla bla bla and because I was so busy and tired from work that Cheeky had to do most of the planning and paper work. I know you've put in a lot of effort and very stressed from it, but you did a fantastic job Cheeky! (So now you can sleep and snore all you want)

We're really very glad everything went smoothly as planned that day, even the weather was extremely kind to us to only rain after taking our outdoor shots. And of course our guests were very punctual that the dinner started and ended on time and everyone enjoyed themselves.

After one year of preparation for our BIG day, it's finally over! In fact, most of the work was done in the last 3 months, starting with coming up with a invite list, asking everyone for their rsvp, to sticking and writing almost 300 invitation cards and mailing them off. Not forgetting doing our montages and choosing march-in songs, in the end we decided to go with the most classic one. And of course the biggest headache was doing the sitting arrangements and coming up with the day itinerary. Honestly we were both very stressed from it, so much so that we just wish it can be done and over asap.

Despite all the stress, we did enjoy the process. We had lots of fun with our bridal shop people, chatting and gossiping. I loved the gowns they choose for me, and my hand bouquet too! And we loved the MINI, we got it at a very good rate and had a good time traveling around the whole of sg in it. Next car a MINI??

Somebody's a year older again...

Happy Birthday my dearest cheeky!! You're a year older again, but still as cheeky as ever..
Nothing fanciful this year because we're both so busy with wedding preps and stuff and very broke too!!
Had a simple dinner at Spageddies the night before because it's been months since we last stepped into Orchard and because I've had enough Chinese food over the CNY season.

And finally on cheeky's actual birthday, the last steamboat for this cny! Omg, don't talk to me about steamboats for the next half a year!

These 2 months will be a crazy 2 months, finalizing the guest list and details for the wedding now. The weather is finally back to the normal of this sunny little island and we set off on our bikes to give out our invitation cards to the nearby friends. It was fun, but never expected it to be so tiring and troublesome. Finding the place was fun, but hopping up and down the bike and going up to the doorstep was tiring (because most of the letterboxes were locked). 3 hours on the roads and 11 cards given, not very efficient indeed, but it was fun!

Now it's time to do up the montages, emcee scripts, AD timeline etc...

Snake Year

Has been lovely so far!
Saturday, we woke up early for last minute spring cleaning of our room, before heading down to mom's place for dinner part 1 then coming back to cheeky's for dinner part 2!
Day 1 and 2 of CNY was of course none other than hoping from one place to another, eating non-stop and cherishing year of getting angbaos! Now I officially have phobia of steamboat!!!
We planned to spend day 3 bringing our bikes for a lil ride, but well, the rain has never been so persistent! And so we spent the whole day at home busy with our wedding preps.

Happy snake year!! (damn, why do I look uglier as the years pass?)

And then came Vday!

We had no plans for it as going anywhere for dinner will be too crowded or overpriced and yes, it was raining the whole day! And so we had a simple, but satisfying XO fishhead bee hoon at clementi for dinner, walked around a little, then decided to head down to River Angbao as the rain stopped.

Nothing spectacular at River Angbao, almost the same stuff every year and because it was Vday, there were soooo many couples along the river, hugging, cuddling and kissing!!!

I remember last year I made a big fuss because cheeky didn't get me any flowers, and even made him promise me at least a stalk of flowers each Vday. Then cheeky got smarter and brought me to see flowers this year. $15 for a pathetic stalk of rose selling outside NTUC??? Crazy!! I can buy so many more things with that money!

Yes, women are ridiculous at times, but we do grow up. Now as husband and wife, there's more to love than just spending that one over-commercialised day together and doing what the market wants us to do. We don't need Vday to express our love for each other and love is much more than satisfying material needs or showing it off in front of the whole world. Love is an unexplainable feeling for that special someone.

Hello 2013

The first month of 2013 has been busy busy busy with work and wedding preps.
Finally a long weekend to catch up on sleep and a bit of time to do some of the essentials like spring cleaning, doing up the guest list, writing invitation cards and now it's time to dig out some childhood photos for montage.

Now some photos to sum up 2013 so far...

Guo Da Li on 27th Jan. Finally over and done with that, cos we had absolutely no idea what has needed and what we were suppose to do.

And then was food tasting on 2nd Feb:

2012 has been an eventful and most memorable year. It was the year I bid farewell to singlehood and learnt to live life as somebody's wife. I must admit there were good times and bad times, but being in hubby's arms at the end of each day is the most wonderful thing. 

So what's in for 2013? Our customary, honeymoon trip, and maybe some addition to our family?? haha
